WATER CHILLING PLANT

Water chilling plants are used when the temperature of water is to be lowered below the atmospheric temperature. This water can then be circulated through a heat exchanger to cool equipment, or another process stream.

Chillers use refrigerant in a closed loop system to facilitate heat exchange from water where the refrigerant is then pumped to a location where the waste heat is transferred to the atmosphere. This heat transfer to the air atmosphere can be done via an air cooled or water cooled condenser depending upon the availability of resources.
